Josh Mentesana

Broker

Josh has been involved in real estate and construction project management for over 10 years in Florida and Arizona. Prior to moving to Arizona in 2018, Josh was also licensed in general lines insurance including life, health, and annuity for 5 years in Florida.

When family ties brought him to southern Arizona, Josh recognized the incredible growth potential of the market around him and began fixing and flipping houses. Fixing and flipping turned to fixing and holding and the pursuit of larger development projects. He was also fortunate to serve many wonderful buyers and sellers, and to establish long-standing relationships with multiple investors during that time.

A few years and several millions of dollars in real estate transactions later, Josh decided to open a brokerage with the goal of helping others accomplish their goals and find financial freedom through real estate.

Josh lives in Sonoita, Arizona with his wife and business partner, Kathryn. Josh and Kathryn have fallen in love with the Sonoita/Elgin area with its rolling hills, mountain views, breathtaking sunsets, and of course, incredible vineyards and wineries.

Outside of business, Josh is an accomplished martial artist. He holds a second-degree black belt in Krav Maga (Israeli combat). Josh carries the core values of Krav Maga, courtesy, modesty, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and the indominable spirit in every area of his life. It has been his privilege to train hundreds of adults and children in his nearly 20 years of practice.

Kathryn Mentesana

Acquisitions Manager

Kathryn brings over a decade of marketing, technology, sales, and contracting experience to the brokerage. After graduating with honors from the University of Florida, she began working in digital marketing with a focus on automotive and hotel groups for several years before being drawn to technology for real estate and construction.

That draw led Kathryn to work in software for REITs and serial builders, most notably with e-Builder, Inc., a Trimble Technologies company, and Aurigo Software Inc. Kathryn focused primarily on helping developers, state, and federal government agencies manage multibillion-dollar capital programs with capital planning, project management, right-of-way, materials and lab testing, and asset management software.

Josh and Kathryn believe that their shared passion for construction and real estate is one of the many reasons they were drawn to each other. After a year of dating long-distance, Kathryn moved to Arizona in 2018 where she and Josh were later married. She assisted Josh with strategic real estate acquisitions for 3 years before taking on her role as Acquisitions Manager with Red Tail Real Estate.

Outside of work, Kathryn loves sports and spending time outdoors. She was a fastpitch softball player for over 10 years and played in the winning ASA World Series game in Olympia, WA. She loves to SCUBA dive, although it’s a little difficult in Arizona, so she’s getting much more into hiking and bird watching.

Shanna Brock

Realtor
license number: SA711489000

Shanna is a Tucson native with a degree from the University of Arizona and a history of performing on many stages in Tucson, from Live Theatre Workshop to the Gaslight Theater. She fell in love with the sweeping views, wine, and people of the Sonoita/Elgin community in 2019. She decided to change paths, move to Sonoita/Elgin, and buy a small vineyard named Anam Cara (soul friend) Vineyard, which represents the way she feels about her husband, Chad. That investment led Shanna to want to help others achieve their dreams with the tool of real estate. Shanna is a great lover of wine, pickles, dogs and of course her handsome husband, who brings a smile to her face every morning.

Gay Potter

Broker Associate
license number: BR033134000

35 years’ experience. Horse Property Specialist. Phoenix Valley Native serving Southern Arizona, Sonoita, Elgin, Canelo, and Patagonia, along with Scottsdale, Chandler, Gilbert, Queen Creek, Cave Creek, Queen Valley, Phoenix, Mesa, and Maricopa.

Gay began serving the needs of her real estate clients in 1989. She has experienced the many peaks and valleys of the real estate market over the span of 35 years, evolving her skillset and knowledge in line with changes to the market and financing requirements. Gay’s love of horses and her being a “cowgirl” made it a natural evolution as she became a “horse property specialist.” She knows the needs in a horse facility and land layouts for ranching. Gay obtained her Broker’s License in 2006 as well as other industry certifications, including Accredited Buyer Agent, Graduate of the Realtor Institute, and Certified Residential Specialist. After achieving the highest levels in production and quality service for her clients in the large franchises, RE/MAX and Realty One Group, she has chosen to offer her expertise, knowledge, integrity, and dedication to the Red Tail Real Estate family of clients.
Gay dated the love of her life, David Potter, in 1979 and married him in 1984. Dave’s 33-year career as a Fire Engineer for the City of Mesa offered their family a great lifestyle of working hard and playing hard together. Fire life was the perfect partner for a real estate career and for raising their two beautiful, independent children. Gay and Dave are very proud of their kids, who today are productive members of the medical and construction industries.

Gay’s introduction to the Sonoita/Elgin community happened when her parents purchased the southeast and southwest corner of Hwy 83 and Papago Springs. Her dad, “Newt,” operated an auto repair and full-service fueling station, (current use of Empire Auto). Newt was a proud member of the community, he loved his “Sonoita town” and its residents until his passing in 2019. Thank you to the Sonoita Rodeo Committee that honored Newt at the 2019 Memorial Day Rodeo.

Gay’s family has watched Sonoita grow since 1985 and still shares great love for the area and community. Her sister, Joy, and husband, Kim, also love the area and relocated to 19 acres just south of Newt’s Corner in 2022.

Gay spends her free time trail riding her horse all over the state of Arizona with her cowgirl friends. She also loves anything with water. Dave and Gay kayak, power boat and Hobie Cat sail the Arizona lakes, and frequent our southern beach in Rocky Point, Mexico.

Gay is a native of the “Valley of the Sun” Phoenix Metro area and still maintains her home there as well as her home in Sonoita. She has a unique vantage point of neighborhoods in the valley and her years as a horse property specialist lends expertise to both markets. She is very excited to join the Red Tail Real Estate team and help with all the real estate expertise offered by Red Tail Real Estate.

Leslie Howlett

Realtor
license number: SA530098000

Leslie is originally from the Chicago area but moved to the rural areas of Phoenix in 1969. A lover of baseball, she spent 20 years playing semi-pro softball and travelled the country playing catcher and left field. The outdoor kept calling and eventually led her to the world of equine. Looking for a more natural lifestyle for her horses, she found the breathtaking grass fields of Elgin and Sonoita perfect and purchased acreage in 2014. There’s no looking back, and to her this is God’s country, and a place for her 5 grandchildren to experience the true, simplistic way of life they should know.
While still in Phoenix, Leslie had a great passion for her career in senior living. She spent many of her days taking her horses to senior communities to “love on” the residents. She hand-held a multitude of those needing to transition from their homes to independent or assisted living communities in the metropolitan area. From guiding them to making their own choices, to downsizing and assisting in the sale of their lifelong homes, Leslie was there to walk her clients and their families through the process comfortably. The relationships she built were priceless. Now that Leslie has settled in Elgin with her horses and dogs, she wants to use her real estate license of 23 years to help others create the lifestyle that works best for them. Whether it’s moving closer to family, simply lessoning the workload in their life, or building their dream home, she and Red Tail are honored to assist.
